Kid Rock Gives Detroit Orbit Magazine Anthology Crowdfunding Campaign a Boost
November 12, 2014

Kid Rock decided recently to put $20,000 behind a crowdfunding campaign that's aimed to tell the story of an influential Detroit entertainment magazine.

Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, decided to support a project called Re-Entry: The Orbit Magazine Anthology that's spearheaded by Rob St. Mary.

The Wayne State University Press confirmed Rock's donation Tuesday in a press release and encourages more donations for the project by Nov. 21

St. Mary described Rock's dedication to the project as "an honor."

"The gift will help tell this story of innovative yet ephemeral publishing history in the best possible way–by saving it from the recycling bin," St. Mary said. "Kid Rock has shown that Detroit culture, history, and community matters greatly to him.”
